The five-year Global Sustainable Development Bond is set to mature on September 25, 2031, carrying a coupon rate of 4.875%. Settlement for the issuance is scheduled for September 25, 2026. Bank of America, BMO Capital Markets, Citi, and JPMorgan managed the transaction for the lending arm.
This move aligns IDA with other multilateral development banks by utilizing an exemption that classifies its debt as exempt securities under U.S. law. By bypassing standard SEC registration requirements, the institution aims to lower its borrowing costs and increase the efficiency of its fundraising operations. The heavy demand, evidenced by the nearly $8 billion order book, suggests strong appetite for the debt despite the shift in regulatory status.
