McDonald’s Hits Half-Century Milestone for Dividend Growth

Fifty years of uninterrupted payout increases have earned McDonald’s a rare seat among the elite "Dividend Kings." The fast-food giant announced a 3.8% bump to its quarterly dividend this week, signaling a long-term commitment to shareholder returns that has persisted through five decades of shifting consumer habits and market volatility.

McDonald’s Hits Half-Century Milestone for Dividend Growth

The company will pay $1.93 per share, up from the previous $1.86, bringing the total annual payout to $7.72 per share. Based on Thursday’s closing price of $248.48, this adjustment offers investors an annual yield of approximately 3.1%. The payment is scheduled for distribution on December 15 to all shareholders recorded by the close of business on December 1.

Joining this exclusive group requires a minimum of 50 consecutive years of annual dividend hikes. By maintaining this streak, McDonald’s secures its status as a reliable income generator for institutional and retail portfolios alike, even as the broader restaurant industry faces ongoing pressure from inflation and changing dining preferences.
