The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 316.14 points to close at 51778.04, while the S&P 500 advanced 1.14% to 7637.76. Tech stocks led the rebound, pushing the Nasdaq Composite up 1.69% to 26418.30. Market sentiment benefited from optimism surrounding Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh’s policy approach and the potential for a swift return of Saudi oil to global markets.
Despite the session's gains, energy market uncertainty remains a persistent threat. A commodities strategist at JPMorgan cautioned that the ongoing conflict in the Middle East complicates price forecasting, leaving the sector vulnerable to sudden shifts. Bond markets reflected a flight to safety, with the 10-year Treasury note yield retreating to 4.946% from a 19-year high, while the two-year yield slipped to 4.688%.
