The grant targets the widening gap in food access during summer months, supporting both immediate meal distribution and long-term nutritional education. Each year, the organization provides healthy snacks and meals to more than 280 children in the Frederick area. Chief Executive Officer Timika Thrasher noted that the funding reinforces the club's broader mission to integrate healthy habits into the daily routines of children who rely on the center for stability.

Operating in Frederick since 2009, the club serves a diverse population, with over half of its annual participants utilizing full or partial scholarships to access programs. Beyond meal services, the funding supports a curriculum focused on physical fitness and food literacy. The Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation, which has directed over $25 million toward hunger relief across its 10-state service footprint since 2001, continues to prioritize partnerships with community-based organizations to address regional food deserts.
