Xenon Pharmaceuticals saw its shares tumble following an announcement that it is temporarily halting enrollment for a late-stage clinical trial. The study, which focuses on patients suffering from major depressive disorder and bipolar depression, has been paused, sparking investor concern over the company's near-term pipeline progress.

Meanwhile, Novo Nordisk shares remained largely flat despite a significant regulatory development. Canadian health authorities officially approved a generic version of Ozempic, the company's flagship diabetes and weight-loss medication. The move clears the way for Swiss manufacturer Sandoz to enter the market, marking a shift in the competitive landscape for one of the most high-profile drugs in the sector.
