The FieldForce PFA System utilizes a high-voltage focal architecture originally engineered for the ventricle, where procedural depth and stability are critical. By applying this technology to the atrium, researchers achieved a median PVI ablation time of 13 minutes, with the fastest recorded procedure clocking in at 7.7 minutes. The study reported no primary safety events, with 80% of patients remaining free from atrial arrhythmias at the one-year mark.
Vivek Reddy, the study’s lead author and an electrophysiologist at Mount Sinai Health System, noted that delivering ablation energy in under 200 milliseconds minimizes the requirement for prolonged catheter stability while maintaining the precision of point-by-point treatment. Beyond the pulmonary veins, 49% of study participants underwent additional atrial target ablation, demonstrating the platform's clinical flexibility. These data follow the 2025 publication of the VCAS trial, which established the system's performance in treating ventricular tachycardia, further cementing the technology's utility across diverse cardiac substrates.
