Investors Face September 21 Deadline in Cogent Communications Lawsuit

Investors who purchased Cogent Communications Holdings, Inc. stock between February 29, 2024, and May 1, 2026, have until September 21, 2026, to move the court to serve as lead plaintiff in a pending securities fraud class action lawsuit filed by the Rosen Law Firm.

The lawsuit alleges that Cogent Communications misled shareholders regarding the viability of its optical wavelength "backlog." According to the complaint, the company misrepresented customer demand and the likelihood that these orders would ever result in actual revenue. Furthermore, the filing claims that Cogent lacked the financial fundamentals required to sustain its dividend policy and failed to disclose risks associated with CEO David Schaeffer’s stock-pledging activities.

Shareholders who acquired shares during the designated Class Period may be entitled to compensation through a contingency fee arrangement, meaning no out-of-pocket costs for participants. Interested parties can contact Phillip Kim at the Rosen Law Firm to review their options. While the court has not yet certified a class, investors are reminded that they may retain their own counsel, remain absent class members, or seek to lead the litigation to represent the interests of the shareholder group.
