W.S. Balkhi Corporation Faces Class Action Lawsuit Over Wage Violations

A new class action lawsuit filed in San Bernardino County Superior Court accuses W.S. Balkhi Corporation of widespread labor code violations. The complaint, brought by the law firm Blumenthal Nordrehaug Bhowmik De Blouw LLP, alleges the company systematically denied employees mandatory meal breaks, rest periods, and accurate overtime compensation.

The legal action, registered as Case No. CIVVS2605799, details a pattern of labor practices that allegedly deprived workers of legally required wages and benefits. According to the filing, the defendant required staff to perform work assignments while officially clocked out for off-duty meal breaks. Furthermore, the lawsuit claims the company rounded meal period times to avoid penalty payments and failed to provide rest breaks for shifts spanning two to ten hours.

The scope of the allegations extends beyond missed breaks to include failures in minimum wage payments, expense reimbursements, and the provision of itemized wage statements. The plaintiffs assert these actions breach multiple sections of the California Labor Code, including sections 201-203, 226, and 510. The firm representing the class is currently seeking to address these claims through the civil court system, citing violations of both state codes and applicable wage orders.
