Cancer Vaccine Market Set for 36% Annual Growth Through 2036

The global market for therapeutic cancer vaccines is poised for a significant expansion, projected to achieve a 36% compound annual growth rate over the next decade. Driven by breakthroughs in mRNA technology and personalized neoantigen research, the sector is transitioning from experimental trials toward becoming a foundational pillar of modern immunotherapy.

The United States currently leads this shift, accounting for 87% of the market share in 2025, when total valuations in major regions reached approximately USD 335 million. This growth is fueled by an increasing global cancer burden and a deeper understanding of how to prime the immune system to recognize and attack malignant cells. Key industry players, including Moderna, Merck, and OSE Immunotherapeutic, are shifting their focus toward combination strategies, often pairing vaccines with immune checkpoint inhibitors to overcome the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment.

While early pioneers like Sipuleucel-T established the initial proof of concept, the current pipeline emphasizes highly tailored approaches. Personalized mRNA platforms and neoantigen-based therapies are at the forefront of this evolution, offering the ability to encode multiple tumor-specific antigens. Despite the technical promise, manufacturers still face the challenge of consistently translating strong immunogenicity into long-term clinical survival. As research expands into challenging solid tumors—such as non-small cell lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, and prostate cancer—the industry is increasingly viewing these vaccines as essential immune-priming platforms rather than standalone treatments.
