Washington brings a career defined by high-stakes public service to his new role. Before his tenure as CEO of Denver International Airport, he managed the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, overseeing an 11,000-person workforce and North America's largest public works program. His earlier work included leading the FasTracks expansion and the redevelopment of Denver Union Station.

At HNTB, Washington will focus on strengthening client engagement and identifying emerging opportunities within an increasingly complex infrastructure landscape. Mike Inabinet, president of markets and services, noted that Washington’s experience in policy and organizational leadership will be central to navigating the firm's future investments. A retired U.S. Army Command Sergeant Major and a member of the American Public Transportation Association Hall of Fame, Washington will leverage his background in both defense and public transit to guide HNTB’s strategic direction.
