Launched September 15 at the Alliance for Pharmacy Compounding’s annual conference, the system promises a written decision within 7 to 10 business days. The platform, which costs $1,685 annually—or $1,348 for APC members—bypasses the high fees and six-month wait times that have long burdened independent pharmacies. ScriptSafe validates existing licenses against state boards and the DEA, rather than requiring separate, redundant applications for payment processors.

Unlike traditional certification models that end upon approval, the system maintains nightly surveillance of a pharmacy’s website and license status. If a facility loses its legal standing or changes its prescription requirements, processors are notified within hours. Worldpay has already adopted the certification, and the company is currently working with Visa to standardize requirements for pharmacy merchants. Following the rollout of payment services, the company plans to expand into online advertising certification, aiming to provide a unified compliance standard for the industry.
