The program targets members who might otherwise be denied credit, offering funds to cover immediate, unplanned costs. Unlike conventional loans that rely heavily on external credit scores, CashPlease uses a member’s tenure and deposit activity to determine eligibility. This shift allows the institution to provide capital to a broader base of its 166,000 members.
Loans feature a fixed six-month term with no application or origination fees. Ashley Rollins, Vice President of Lending Administration, noted that the product is designed to provide responsible access for those facing financial setbacks. Members retain the flexibility to pay off the balance early without incurring prepayment penalties. The move follows a broader strategy by the $2.6 billion institution to modernize its digital and personal banking services across Connecticut and Western Massachusetts.
