Founded in 1993 by patient Jill Freidenrich and surgeon Dr. Ellen Mahoney, the organization operates on the principle that cancer care requires more than clinical treatment. The upcoming television feature will spotlight the nonprofit's Mobile Resource Center and its personalized approach to support, which includes financial assistance, navigation services, and emotional counseling. By matching resources to each individual's specific needs, the group aims to address the disruption cancer causes to work, finances, and relationships.
Executive Director Rina Bello notes that the mission is to provide a reliable space for patients as their needs shift throughout their journey. As treatment advances lead to longer survival rates, the demand for non-clinical support continues to climb. The organization is currently expanding its healthcare partnerships and virtual programming to ensure that patients—whether managing metastatic disease or navigating survivorship—receive consistent assistance regardless of where they receive their primary medical care.
