ALDI Slashes Prices on Seasonal Staples to Drive $86 Million in Savings

Beginning September 23, ALDI is rolling out price cuts across its U.S. inventory, targeting a total of $86 million in consumer savings. The initiative, running through early November, focuses on fresh produce and proteins, bringing nearly one-third of the grocer’s daily assortment below last year’s price points.

The campaign targets fall-specific goods, including Autumncrisp grapes, Brussels sprouts, and various squash varieties. Most notably, the chain has dropped the price of Honeycrisp apples to $1.99 per pound—a 35% decrease from last year and the lowest rate in over five years. Kirkwood chicken breast family packs have similarly fallen to $1.99 per pound, matching a price floor not seen since 2022.

Scott Patton, Chief Commercial Officer at ALDI, frames the move as a long-term strategy rather than a temporary promotion. By optimizing internal efficiency, the company aims to sustain these reductions alongside existing discounts on pantry staples like coffee, nuts, and household paper products. These new price adjustments will remain in effect at all 2,600 domestic locations through November 3.
