The collaboration marks a shift in how large-scale businesses approach complex optimization. Rather than treating quantum systems as distant academic tools, CGI and D-Wave are targeting immediate, mission-critical challenges, including rail network scheduling, industrial production planning, and supply chain routing. These areas have historically strained legacy classical systems, making them prime candidates for quantum-enhanced acceleration.
Dave Henderson, Chief Technology Officer at CGI, noted that organizations are moving past initial research phases to identify high-value deployments. Through this partnership, clients gain access to the Advantage2 quantum computer and hybrid solvers, allowing for a structured path from experimentation to full-scale enterprise adoption. D-Wave Chief Revenue Officer Lorenzo Martinelli emphasized that the business value of these systems is no longer theoretical, citing current operational improvements in industries already utilizing annealing technology. The joint effort seeks to bridge the gap between specialized quantum hardware and the day-to-day delivery capabilities required by CGI’s global client base.
