Bedford Breast Center Launches October Initiatives for Cancer Awareness

Ten robots roaming Los Angeles streets will soon sport custom designs to direct passersby toward cancer education and donation portals. This unconventional outreach marks the start of a month-long campaign by Beverly Hills-based Bedford Breast Center, which has partnered with local brands to fund support services for survivors.

The clinic is teaming up with The Breasties, a nonprofit dedicated to community and resource support for those navigating gynecologic and breast cancer. Throughout October, the initiative connects clinical expertise with retail partnerships to broaden the impact of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

On October 13, the center hosts a discussion at Mar Vista’s Good Girl Books, where surgeons Dr. Heather Richardson and Dr. Rebecca Lane will join nurse practitioner Natalie Rabb to discuss life after treatment. The bookstore will contribute 10% of its monthly sales to the cause. On October 21, a second event at the West Hollywood boutique Fleur du Mal will feature a shopping day where the center matches a portion of the store's proceeds with its own donation. During this evening gathering, medical staff will provide live demonstrations on performing breast self-exams.

The campaign extends beyond events through a direct funding model: Bedford Breast Center will donate 10% of all mammogram proceeds collected throughout October. Founded in 2015 by Drs. Lisa Cassileth, Heather Richardson, and Leslie Memsic, the center aims to bridge the gap between clinical diagnostics and patient advocacy through these city-wide partnerships.
