Mercuria will serve as the anchor partner for the initiative, utilizing its global logistics network and risk management expertise to maintain physical inventories of critical minerals on U.S. soil. The project is designed to shield domestic manufacturers, energy systems, and infrastructure providers from the shortages and price spikes that frequently disrupt international trade.
Brian A. Falik, President of Mercuria Americas, emphasized that the collaboration provides a buffer against external instability, granting the U.S. industrial base greater certainty. For the government, the move represents a direct effort to treat mineral availability as a core pillar of national security. Brett B. Lambert, Executive Chair of VaultCo, noted that this funding marks the first major milestone in a broader strategy to ensure the U.S. maintains the materials necessary for its manufacturing output.
