Stardock launches Snipboard to overhaul Windows clipboard management

Moving beyond the static limitations of traditional copy-paste, Stardock has unveiled Snipboard, a new utility for Windows that transforms clipboard history into an interactive, dock-style interface. The tool allows users to organize text, files, and images as visual cards, bridging the gap between temporary storage and long-term productivity.

The core of the application is a customizable dock that can be anchored to any side of a monitor. Unlike standard history menus that require manual searching, Snipboard presents copied items as recognizable assets that remain accessible for immediate use. Users can pin frequently needed links or images to the dock, ensuring essential content persists even as new data is copied. The software also enables seamless data transfer across multiple PCs on a local network, allowing for direct file and folder movement between connected machines.

General Manager Brad Sams noted that the project aims to modernize a fundamental Windows interaction that has remained stagnant for years. Beyond its organizational features, the software includes granular privacy controls, such as the ability to exclude specific applications from history tracking and set automatic data retention limits. Currently in beta, Snipboard is available to subscribers of Stardock’s Object Desktop suite, offering extensive personalization options ranging from light and dark themes to custom transparency levels and animation adjustments.
