The MAZU suite, launched by the China Meteorological Administration in 2025, serves as a primary technological pillar for the UN’s Early Warnings for All initiative. By leveraging AI to track atmospheric shifts, the system currently supports cloud trials across 40 nations, including Ethiopia, Pakistan, and the Solomon Islands. With this latest infusion of capital, the program aims to expand its reach to frontline personnel in developing countries who lack advanced warning infrastructure.

Since its inception at the 80th session of the World Meteorological Organization’s Executive Council this June, the scholarship has focused on building human capacity within Belt and Road partner countries. Beyond financial awards, the China Meteorological Administration and Putian City officials plan to establish a global practice base to standardize early-warning protocols. To date, the MAZU training program has reached over 1,000 meteorological workers across 100 nations, turning the regional expertise of the Fujian-based tech hub into a scalable international resource for disaster resilience.
