Dr. Kristin Schaaf, Director of Investment Programs, emphasized that the move is designed to fortify American industry while providing sustainable, high-wage career paths. Each state serves a specific strategic function: Ohio acts as a hub for aerospace engineering, Illinois maintains a robust precision production infrastructure, and Wisconsin anchors the military shipbuilding and vehicle manufacturing sectors.

To accelerate recruitment, the program has partnered with Mike Rowe, founder of the mikeroweWORKS Foundation. A $10 million grant awarded to Rowe’s foundation will bolster the Work Ethic Scholarship Program, incentivizing students to pursue technical trades. Rowe noted that re-establishing the prestige of these roles is now a fundamental requirement for national security, as the defense industrial base faces an aging workforce and persistent labor gaps. Marketing efforts for the campaign are currently managed by the Dallas-based agency TRG, with further state-level rollouts expected as the initiative gains momentum nationwide.
