For millions of people navigating the progression of Parkinson's, the standard foundation of levodopa therapy often requires frequent dose escalations that can trigger dyskinesia and other motor fluctuations. JUVMO offers a distinct pharmacological approach, targeting dopamine pathways differently than traditional D2/D3 selective agonists. According to AbbVie, the drug will be available to patients in the U.S. starting in October 2026.

The clinical case for the drug was established through the Phase 3 TEMPO trial program, which evaluated patients across the disease spectrum. Data indicated that participants maintained significant improvements in daily functioning and motor skills compared to placebo. Notably, the trial results showed that 93 percent of patients on JUVMO and levodopa did not require a dosage increase over 85 weeks, suggesting the new therapy may help stabilize treatment regimens for those with more advanced symptoms. While common side effects include nausea, headache, and dizziness, the majority of reported adverse events were classified as mild or moderate.
