The new pouches incorporate one-way degassing valves that vent carbon dioxide released by roasted beans while blocking oxygen ingress. This mechanism ensures that aroma and flavor profiles remain stable through distribution and retail display. By merging this functionality with digital production, the company enables smaller coffee businesses to bypass the large-scale print runs typically required by traditional packaging suppliers.
"Coffee brands need packaging that protects product quality while providing flexibility as their business grows," said SunDance President JohnHenry Ruggieri. Beyond the coffee sector, the format is adaptable for other dry goods and specialty foods requiring strict atmospheric control. This expansion follows a series of industry recognitions for SunDance, including a 2026 Flexible Packaging Association award for shelf impact, further cementing their position in the sustainable and digital-first printing market.
