In contrast, 35% of executives who avoid using AI for layoffs dedicate resources to employee readiness. This disparity extends to functional improvements, as cost-focused leaders trail their peers in adopting predictive analytics and tools designed to automate administrative tasks.

Sony SungChu, Chief AI Officer at Businessolver, warns that AI does not generate value in isolation. The report indicates that when leaders slash capacity without building capability, they risk sabotaging their own efficiency targets. A notable divide also exists within the C-suite: 88% of CIOs and CTOs worry that technology will outpace internal systems, while only 63% of CFOs share that concern. This 25-point gap reflects a fundamental disagreement between those implementing the technology and those managing the balance sheet.

Furthermore, the survey highlights a growing tension regarding organizational culture. Nearly one-third of leaders prioritizing AI-driven layoffs view empathy as an obstacle to their business objectives. Meanwhile, employees report a sense of isolation, with 49% stating they have been left to navigate AI integration without formal guidance or support.
