Under the terms of the firm-fixed-price agreement, the Department of War’s logistics arm will issue delivery orders over the next five years. While the $995 million figure serves as the maximum ceiling for the contract, it does not function as a guaranteed purchase commitment. Metallus is tasked with a 24-month window to fulfill each individual order placed under this arrangement.

CEO Mike Williams noted that the deal reflects the company's shift toward the defense sector and its capacity to meet stringent performance and traceability standards for military-grade materials. Metallus, which produces high-performance steel from recycled scrap, intends to leverage this long-term partnership to justify further capital investments in its domestic manufacturing operations.
