The new curriculum covers five core disciplines: structural, geotechnical, transportation, water resources, and environmental engineering. Students will gain proficiency in modern industry tools such as LiDAR, drones, AI simulation software, and Autodesk Civil 3D. By integrating these technologies with project-based learning, the college intends to produce graduates capable of addressing complex infrastructure challenges immediately upon entering the workforce.

College President Scott Stallman noted that the program addresses a pressing industry need as a large wave of current engineers approaches retirement. To ensure the curriculum remains relevant to professional standards, the college consulted a steering committee of licensed engineers from both public and private sectors. Noureen Sajid, director of the School of Engineering, emphasized that the program is designed to foster entrepreneurial thinking alongside technical mastery. Like the college’s existing electrical and mechanical programs, the new degree will seek accreditation from the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.
