The acquisition brings Shipyard’s engineering team and its platform—which automatically spins up isolated full-stack environments for pull requests—directly under the StackGen umbrella. While the financial terms remain undisclosed, the product will continue to operate as Shipyard by StackGen, maintaining support for existing enterprise clients like PepsiCo and startups such as Rippit. By embedding these environments into its existing infrastructure, StackGen aims to solve a growing friction point: verifying that code written by AI agents is functional before it hits live systems.

Sachin Aggarwal, CEO of StackGen, emphasized that enterprises require concrete proof of stability for automated changes. Shipyard provides this by allowing the company’s internal AI agents, known as Aiden, to deploy, test, and discard environments on demand. For developers, this maintains familiar workflows within GitHub and GitLab while providing a high-fidelity space to run browser tests. Harrison Hunter, CTO of Rippit, noted that as the volume of agent-driven pull requests grows, this validation step becomes critical to maintaining production reliability.
