Yiren Digital Reports Q2 2026 Loss Amid Strategic Pivot to AI

Beijing-based fintech firm Yiren Digital recorded a net loss of RMB 449.6 million for the second quarter of 2026, as the company grappled with legacy receivable impairments and a significant contraction in its core loan facilitation business under tightened regulatory requirements.

Total net revenue for the period fell to RMB 890 million, a 46% decline compared to the second quarter of 2025. The credit solution segment, which accounts for the vast majority of income, saw loan facilitation volumes drop to RMB 6.3 billion—a sharp decrease from the RMB 20.3 billion reported in the same quarter last year. CFO William Hui noted that while operational performance showed sequential improvement, results were weighed down by adjustments related to legacy assets and the ongoing transition away from a risk-taking business model.

Despite the financial headwinds, the company is doubling down on its "All-in-AI" strategy. Yiren Digital reported that its proprietary large language models and multi-agent platforms have successfully increased autonomous resolution rates in customer operations to nearly 80%. Insurance brokerage remains a relative bright spot, with the number of clients surging 281% year-over-year. To bolster investor confidence, the board authorized a new share repurchase program of up to US$20 million, signaling a disciplined approach to capital allocation while the firm shifts focus toward technology-driven services.
