The new initiative uses Google Gemini to generate personalized stories for children aged 5 to 10. By centering the narrative around animal characters like tigers and axolotls, the platform teaches kids to distinguish between hour and minute hands, understand AM and PM, and relate time to their daily routines. Each digital session culminates in a downloadable toolkit, allowing families to move the learning process away from screens and onto physical, printable watch faces.
Shari Fabiani, Chief Marketing Officer at Timex Group, noted that the goal is to bridge the gap between digital convenience and analog tradition. The platform runs on Google Cloud Run, ensuring the personalized storytelling remains fast and secure. Paul Tepfenhart, Director of Global Retail Strategy at Google Cloud, emphasized that the project demonstrates how generative AI can support traditional learning rather than replace it. The service is now live, aiming to restore a skill that has increasingly slipped behind the rise of digital displays.
