The Army initiated this program to address the urgent need for increased magazine depth and scalable production. By integrating interceptor technology with the Integrated Battle Command System and M903 launch stations, the collaboration seeks to improve the cost-exchange ratio in modern air defense. The team combines Destinus’ European interceptor design expertise with Aeon’s domestic manufacturing and weapons integration capabilities based in Austin, Texas.

Naweed Tahmas, CEO of Aeon, emphasized that the solution addresses the military's requirement for rapid, affordable scalability. Ron Kavanaugh, Vice President of U.S. Operations at Destinus, noted that their approach focuses on sustaining operational tempo through cost-asymmetric defense. Finalists are scheduled to present their technical solutions to Department of War experts throughout October, with the Army expected to announce up to three winners by December 31, 2026.
