The organization, formerly known as The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, released an analysis this month in Blood Advances quantifying the human impact of scientific progress since its 1949 founding. E. Anders Kolb, president and CEO, stood alongside survivors and donors to ring the bell, framing the achievement not through clinical data, but through the accumulation of birthdays, graduations, and family moments made possible by modern treatment.

While many blood cancers remain incurable, the focus has shifted toward extending life expectancy and improving patient quality of life. Kolb noted that the data underscores the necessity of continued investment in research and advocacy. The nonprofit currently serves as the largest global entity dedicated to blood cancer, supporting patients across more than 100 variations of the disease through research funding and direct access to care.
