Under the terms of the 50-year concession, the consortium—which includes partners Transurban and Tikehau Star Infra—will take responsibility for the financing, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of the new infrastructure. The project involves adding choice lanes along a 26-mile stretch of the interstate, a critical corridor for a region currently experiencing significant population and economic growth.

Work on the expansion is intended to provide more reliable travel times for commuters while simultaneously improving traffic flow in existing general-purpose lanes. Beyond the immediate transportation benefits, the initiative is positioned as a catalyst for local job creation and long-term regional development. Ferrovial, which already manages five similar express lane projects across North America, will oversee this transition as the state’s primary partner in modernizing one of its most heavily traveled routes.
