The deal cements a partnership that began in August 2022, when Fresenius first acquired a majority 55% interest. By absorbing the remaining equity, Fresenius gains absolute control over mAbxience’s development, manufacturing, and commercialization pipelines. For Fresenius CEO Michael Sen, the move is a calculated pivot to secure supply chains and profit margins as competition in the biosimilars market intensifies. The company intends to leverage this unified structure to accelerate launch timelines and expand patient access to affordable alternatives for high-cost biologics.
Despite the shift in ownership, leadership remains stable. Jurgen van Broeck, who serves as CEO of mAbxience, will continue to head the business, reporting directly to Dr. Sang-Jin Pak, President of Biopharma at Fresenius. The company has publicly committed to maintaining all existing customer contracts and supply obligations, signaling that the transition aims to scale internal capabilities rather than overhaul current operations.
