Founders Scott Goeden and Sergei Dubograev built the platform to address the growing divide between corporate AI investment and measurable output. Goeden, formerly of the consultancy Reference Point, and Dubograev, who led the platform Clowder, developed the system to function across diverse tech stacks. By integrating with current workflows via SDKs or plug-ins, TheEngine provides a Transparency Dashboard that maps token utilization and expenditures across different models and providers.
Optimization centers on reducing redundant compute through memory and caching. Instead of treating every request as a new task, the system retains organizational context, allowing the engine to handle queries with increased efficiency. According to Dubograev, the goal is to reduce the workload placed on models by identifying which requests can be resolved without starting from scratch. The company claims the platform performs at or above industry standards, including the LongMemEval Oracle dataset, while lowering overall compute requirements.
Security remains a core component of the rollout, with former IBM Global CISO Shamla Naidoo serving as an early investor and advisor. The system is designed to provide administrative oversight of usage patterns and data classification without exposing the underlying content of private conversations. Beginning in October, TheTop is opening an early-access program for qualified organizations, offering them a trial of the Transparency Dashboard to benchmark their current AI spending against optimized performance.
