Whitmore moves to CCD from Grand Forks Air Force Base, where he served as deputy commander of the 319th Reconnaissance Wing. In that capacity, he oversaw 2,200 personnel, a $70 million annual budget, and $3.8 billion in infrastructure. His background is rooted in the community college system, which he credits as the starting point of an academic journey that eventually yielded four master's degrees and a doctorate.
Beyond his administrative experience, Whitmore is a decorated officer, having received the Distinguished Flying Cross for life-saving actions in combat. He is also recognized as an Art of War Scholar and a recipient of the Ten Outstanding Young Americans Award. As he steps into his new role, Whitmore plans to prioritize building institutional relationships and fostering collaboration across the Denver region, aiming to expand the college's impact on economic mobility and student success.
