Moritz brings nearly two decades of experience to the role, having navigated the classroom, the nonprofit sector, and the federal government. An MIT graduate, she started her career as a middle school science teacher in New York before managing national STEM initiatives for Teach For America. Her resume also includes a tenure in the Obama administration as Deputy Director of STEM Education at the U.S. Department of Education, where she contributed to the Computer Science for All initiative.
Her history with STEM Next is extensive, beginning with a fellowship at the Institute of Education Sciences. She later grew the organization’s fellowship program from two participants to more than 16. As CEO, she inherits the nonprofit’s goal of engaging 20 million young people in high-quality STEM learning through afterschool and summer programs by 2030. Board Chair Jackie Schirmer praised Moritz’s ability to unify resources and people to reach ambitious targets, noting that her background makes her uniquely qualified to guide the organization through its upcoming chapter.
