Dr. Hilton’s approach to emotional well-being is rooted in both rigorous academic study and profound personal adversity. After earning her PhD from the University of Arizona, she combined her background in Buddhist Philosophy with her lived experience of surviving a plane crash and navigating the loss of her husband to cancer in 2013. These events fundamentally reshaped her professional purpose, steering her away from a career as a writing professor toward the study of resilience.
At the Meditation Practice Institute, she rejects the trend of digital-only mental health solutions, favoring direct, one-on-one mentorship. Her programs integrate meditation, yoga, and mindfulness training designed to foster emotional balance. Influenced by mentors including Jeff Gitterman and Geshe Michael Roach, Dr. Hilton emphasizes that true healing requires self-responsibility and authentic human connection. She remains focused on expanding her international community, teaching meditation not as a luxury, but as an essential skill for navigating life's transitions.
