Millennium Bank Revitalizes Historic Bridgeport Banking Hub

Mayor Brandon Johnson joined local leaders on September 30 to mark the reopening of a historic Bridgeport banking center, a move that secures a neighborhood financial foothold while introducing a 120-foot community mural by artist Jeff Zimmerman to the intersection of 32nd and Morgan streets.

The renovated facility at 3156 S. Morgan Street represents a new chapter for a location that has served the community since 1890. Millennium Bank acquired the property following the closure of Pulaski Savings Bank in early 2025, opting to modernize operations rather than abandon the historic site. The minority-owned institution, which currently manages nearly $1 billion in assets, now provides services to approximately 1,000 local customers.

Beyond traditional lending, the bank has positioned itself as a primary Small Business Administration lender in Illinois, having funded roughly $350 million in loans over the past decade. Vice Chairman Himal Agarwal emphasized that the branch expansion is intended to deepen relationships with local entrepreneurs and families. For city officials, the investment serves as a tangible example of the Pro-Chicagoland Decisions initiative, which tracks corporate commitments to neighborhood-level growth. The new mural, commissioned to reflect the character of Bridgeport, stands as a visual anchor for the bank’s broader strategy of integrating community investment with commercial banking.
