Cardinal Infrastructure Expands Atlanta Footprint with Allied Paving Deal

With $100 million in annual revenue moving into its portfolio, Raleigh-based Cardinal Infrastructure Group has finalized its acquisition of Allied Paving Contractors. The deal marks a strategic push to bolster self-performing paving operations throughout Northern Georgia and streamline project timelines for the company’s regional site development teams.

The integration allows Cardinal to sequence paving work immediately following its grading and site development phases, a move intended to accelerate project delivery in the Atlanta market. Benji Wood, Chief Operating Officer at Cardinal, noted that the acquisition brings specialized crews directly into the firm’s existing Southeast operations.

John McLean, the former CEO of Allied Paving, will transition into a leadership role at Cardinal, overseeing paving operations across the state. The acquisition follows Cardinal’s established strategy of absorbing founder-led companies to expand its suite of infrastructure services, which already includes wet utility installation, site clearing, and rock blasting.
