ConocoPhillips Secures Long-Term LNG Supply from Venture Global

Conflict defines the landscape of this new 20-year agreement, as Venture Global secures a major partner despite ongoing litigation from other industry giants. The deal mandates the delivery of 1 million tons of liquefied natural gas annually to ConocoPhillips, with supply scheduled to commence in 2030.

ConocoPhillips Secures Long-Term LNG Supply from Venture Global

The partnership marks a shift in market dynamics, even as Venture Global remains embroiled in legal disputes with companies like Shell and BP. These firms previously accused the U.S.-based exporter of diverting cargoes to the lucrative spot market while delaying the commissioning of its Calcasieu Pass facility. While an arbitration tribunal ruled in favor of Venture Global against Shell this past August, a subsequent court decision favored BP, keeping the legal pressure mounting.

Despite these frictions, Venture Global continues to scale its operations aggressively. The company now claims a total capacity of 100 million tons of LNG annually across its operating, under-construction, and planned projects. This deal reinforces the broader industry push to secure reliable LNG exposure, a strategy prioritized by major energy players seeking to mitigate the volatility caused by geopolitical shifts and supply chain disruptions.
