The Consorzio Vino Chianti Classico is pivoting its international narrative to emphasize the intersection of landscape, medieval architecture, and craftsmanship. By framing the wine alongside classical sculpture and historic estates, the campaign highlights a territory where forests dominate the topography, and vineyards occupy only one-tenth of the total land. This ecological balance remains central to the region’s long-term preservation strategy.
As the 2026 harvest approaches, Giovanni Manetti, President of the Consorzio, notes that cool nocturnal temperatures are fostering high aromatic complexity in the Sangiovese grapes. Despite global market volatility, the United States remains the primary destination for these wines, accounting for 37% of total sales. Manetti attributes this sustained demand to the region’s commitment to quality and the distinct, silky tannic structure of the current vintage. Through educational initiatives and high-profile tastings, the organization aims to cement the Black Rooster as an inextricable element of Italy's broader cultural heritage.
