The 2027 strategy emphasizes affordability and expanded access, specifically for those managing long-term health challenges. Aetna is increasing the availability of its Chronic Condition Special Needs Plans (C-SNPs) to 25 states, providing targeted support for individuals with diabetes, heart failure, and other cardiovascular disorders. These plans include dedicated care teams and additional monthly allowances for health-related expenses, such as groceries and utilities, for qualifying members.
To streamline the member experience, Aetna is integrating new digital tools into its platform, including conversational AI within the Aetna Health app to assist with benefit navigation. The company also reported that over 95% of prior authorization requests are now processed within 24 hours. Beyond digital integration, the insurer is expanding its High Value Provider Incentive Program, which offers members lower out-of-pocket costs when choosing specific primary care providers. These initiatives, combined with $0 copays for preventive screenings and Tier 1 medications at preferred pharmacies, reflect a broader push to reduce barriers to care during the upcoming enrollment period, which runs from October 15 through December 7, 2026.
