The deal signals an aggressive market appetite for non-traditional gallium sources, with METLEN’s projected annual production of 50 metric tons likely to be fully committed long before operations begin in the third quarter of 2027. By integrating proprietary technology with feedstock from its Aluminium of Greece refinery, the company is positioning itself as a primary supplier for global technology industries aiming to diversify their critical material dependencies.
Executive Chairman Evangelos Mytilineos noted that the international interest in the project has consistently outpaced initial forecasts. The company views these contracts as validation of its Critical & Rare Metals division, which focuses on building industrial capacity for materials essential to future hardware and semiconductor innovation. For Greece, the investment serves to cement the nation’s emerging role as a pivotal hub within the European strategic resource landscape.
