Fire Reported at Saudi Petro Rabigh Complex Amid Regional Tensions

A significant blaze has erupted at the Petro Rabigh refining and petrochemical facility north of Jeddah, triggering unverified reports of a targeted strike. While Iranian news agency Tasnim attributed the incident to an attack by Yemeni sources, Saudi authorities and Aramco have remained silent regarding the cause of the fire.

Fire Reported at Saudi Petro Rabigh Complex Amid Regional Tensions

Videos circulating on Telegram show a large fire involving a storage tank at the complex, a claim supported by satellite data indicating elevated thermal activity and a visible smoke plume. The ambiguity surrounding the event stems from a lack of independent verification, leaving the origin of the blaze—whether technical failure or external sabotage—entirely speculative.

The incident occurs against a backdrop of renewed conflict in Yemen, where the internationally recognized government has launched a fresh offensive to reclaim Houthi-held territory. Given the historical precedent of Houthi drone and missile strikes against Saudi energy infrastructure, including a 2022 attack on the same facility, the market remains on high alert. Despite these geopolitical pressures, oil prices showed little volatility, with WTI crude trading at 90.74 and Brent crude at 102.16.
