Playseat Marks Three Decades of Redefining Racing Simulation

Since crafting the world's first commercial racing cockpit in the mid-1990s, the Dutch manufacturer Playseat has evolved from a niche pioneer into a global standard-setter. Now, as the company celebrates 30 years in the industry, it is preparing to launch the Evolution 2, its latest iteration of the home-sim experience.

The company’s trajectory began with the development of the original racing cockpit, eventually expanding into specialized segments including formula-position seating and foldable designs. These innovations were bolstered by strategic collaborations with brands like Red Bull, Mercedes-AMG, and Formula 1. According to founder Fernando Smit, the firm’s strategy remains rooted in the continuous pursuit of new product categories to broaden the accessibility of high-end simulation.

Looking beyond the track, the organization plans to introduce hardware for flight and heavy-duty machinery simulation later this year. The upcoming Evolution 2 represents the latest attempt to distill three decades of engineering into a single, modular package. Designed and patented in the Netherlands, these setups aim to cater to a demographic ranging from casual enthusiasts to professional competitors, maintaining the company's long-standing focus on versatility and industrial design.
