The integration brings Graphite’s team into the Cushing Terrell fold, an organization founded in 1938 with a sprawling footprint now covering nine states. Greg Matthews, President and CEO of Cushing Terrell, noted that the move follows a history of project partnerships between the two firms, signaling a strategic effort to consolidate regional influence. Graphite, established in 2012, has cultivated a reputation for high-profile work that defines parts of the Seattle skyline, blending commercial retail development with community-focused cultural projects.

Peter Krech, founding principal at Graphite, emphasized that the merger aligns with the firm’s focus on human-centric design. By joining a multidisciplinary team of over 600 experts, Graphite transitions into a new chapter that leverages Cushing Terrell’s broader engineering and design resources. This consolidation merges Graphite’s specialized local portfolio with the national reach of its parent firm, focusing on sustainable, client-tailored solutions for future developments.
