The agreement with the NHS Supply Chain facilitates the deployment of the HeartSense technology across primary and secondary care facilities, as well as civil service departments. By enabling continuous, real-time monitoring from the comfort of a patient's home, the initiative seeks to alleviate the current burden on hospital diagnostic services and reduce waiting times for cardiac assessments.
Developed in Cambridge and manufactured in Britain, the device integrates multi-channel ECG sensing with adaptive artificial intelligence, supported by 86 patents. Its ergonomic design is specifically intended to improve diagnostic accessibility, including for women’s cardiovascular health. The system holds UKCA approval and ISO 13845 certification, with the company currently pursuing FDA 510(k) clearance for international expansion.
Professor Rameen Shakur, founder of the company, noted that the partnership fills a critical gap in domestic medical manufacturing. The technology is designed to assist clinicians in making earlier interventions, shifting the focus of cardiovascular treatment from reactive acute care to proactive prevention. Integrated Care Boards are now authorized to deploy the devices at scale within community settings, marking a significant transition in how the NHS manages long-term heart health.
