The expansion increases argenx's exclusive access to the ENHANZE platform from six to eight targets. By utilizing Halozyme’s proprietary rHuPH20 enzyme, argenx plans to develop subcutaneous formulations that allow for rapid, large-volume drug delivery, shifting away from more invasive administration methods. While financial specifics remain undisclosed, Halozyme confirmed it is eligible for milestone payments and royalties on net sales generated from these new programs.
Dr. Helen Torley, CEO of Halozyme, framed the move as a validation of the platform’s versatility in a competitive biopharmaceutical landscape. Arjen Lemmen, vice president of corporate development at argenx, noted that the collaboration prioritizes patient experience, specifically for those managing chronic immunological conditions like MG and CIDP. This deal marks another step in Halozyme's strategy to cement its drug delivery technology as an industry standard for subcutaneous applications, complementing its recent development of hyperconcentration technologies like Aerocon.
