The collaboration centers on the production of mechanical components and calibration standards for MailSecur, a desktop T-ray imaging system used to identify explosives, biological agents, and narcotics like fentanyl. With its U.S. Department of Homeland Security SAFETY Act designation, the technology is increasingly utilized by correctional facilities to combat the influx of drugs hidden in mail or soaked into paper. By moving production to Kentucky, RaySecur gains access to precision metal fabrication and custom machining capabilities.
For DTS Industries, a firm founded in 2019, the agreement represents a significant scale-up of its engineering and assembly services. Congressman Hal Rogers, who founded the regional development group SKED, noted that the deal highlights the technical aptitude of the Appalachian workforce. RaySecur CEO Alex Sappok emphasized that securing the domestic supply chain for these national security tools is a primary strategic objective, ensuring that the company can meet demand from government agencies and Fortune 500 clients while supporting local job growth in Jackson County.
