The acquisition brings Cosmos and the Auggie CLI into the Harness ecosystem, rebranding the core technology as the Harness Cosmos Software Factory Agent. This tool operates as a programmable factory, taking requirements from an initial ticket or bug report and managing the process through to merge-ready code. By utilizing an isolated virtual machine for each task, the system handles planning, coding, and testing, only requesting human intervention when high-level judgment is required.
By connecting Augment’s Code Context Engine with the existing Harness Software Delivery Knowledge Graph, the platform now maintains a live map of both the codebase and the operational environment. Harness CEO Jyoti Bansal noted that the goal is to shift focus from raw code volume to the delivery of valuable software. Downstream agents for security, deployment, and cost management can now communicate failures back to the Cosmos agent, allowing for automated fixes based on real-time production feedback. This integration enables teams to automate workflows across the entire software development lifecycle, from the first line of code to runtime protection.
