CU Capital Management specializes in real estate sale-leaseback transactions, a model designed to keep economic value circulating within the credit union industry. By helping credit unions unlock capital while offering others a chance to participate as lenders, the firm seeks to strengthen the financial position of its members. Capstone Strategic acted as the bridge in this initiative, identifying Corporate One as a partner whose long-term objectives aligned with CUCM’s operational goals.

Corporate One President and CEO Melissa Ashley noted that the investment offers more than just real estate exposure, highlighting its role in optimizing liquidity and capital management. According to John Dearing, a partner at Capstone, the firm’s role involved navigating the nuances of these institutional relationships to ensure a strategic fit. This collaboration underscores a broader trend of credit unions utilizing intentional, proactive partnerships to expand their capabilities without relying solely on traditional corporate acquisitions.
